Back pain can be recovered by taking proper medications and doing constant exercise. Doing so, it makes the back bone flexible. The epidural space is the outer portion of the spinal cord which surrounds the spinal column. The epidural injection goes straight into the epidural space of the spinal column. The injected steroid helps in reducing the inflammation that is present surrounding the affected nerves. These injections are mostly used to find the exact cause of the pain. As it gives temporary relief from pain they are called as therapeutic injections. In such injections very effective drug lidocaine is used as it acts rapidly and relieves the patients within an hour. Several other anesthetic like Bupivacaine, Cortisone are also used.

The ESP injections are injected in three different types:

• Injecting between the vertebrae from back, it is the common method.
• Final method is the transformational. It is injected in the nerve root where the exact problem exits.

Though injection provides immediate relief from severe pain for a longer duration it is temporary but it helps in reducing the pain and inflammation completely.
