Exercise will definitely help the back pain sufferers, but provided they do it properly and regularly. Heavy exercise can also make the pain to persist. At the same time stopping exercise completely can also make the pain to come again. Doing the exercise in an active and constant manner can help to distribute the nutrients in the disk space and softens the tissue, this makes the ligaments and joints stronger.

For good postures abdomen should be stronger as it forms the core support of our body and if it weakens then it causes stress on other parts of the body. Several equipments for keeping abdomen healthy like Abs-roller are available that helps the patients to do the exercise without strain. Pilates can also be included for abdominal strength.
Just by sitting up straight most of the times can help to keep our backbone stronger. Stretch the hamstring when getting up from the bed and before going to bed.

Sleep flat on the floor wrap a towel in the ankle of one leg then in prone position stretch the legs straight up in the air and pull the towel towards you as mush as possible. Hold it in this position for ten-fifteen minutes.

Other exercises like water aerobics, walking, cycling can be done for those who could not strain much in exercise.

Minor solution like bed rest, not lifting heavy objects, working in less stress can help to some extent but not completely. Exercises such as stretching and strengthening can serve the purpose and help to soften the tissues.
