Stretching your arms over your head can reduce the strain on your shoulders and upper back. Your hips and bottom portion of your back can benefit from vacillating from side to side, with your knees bent just a little. If you have a job that requires sitting for long periods, you should be doing stretching exercises from your chair. Once you notice the way you slouch when you are sitting; it is important to do a few simple stretches and make sure you keep your posture as proper as you can. Depending upon the type of back pain that you have, it is possible that exercising may help stop the pain. At the same time, you have to be careful not to do anything that might make your back worse. Avoid any actions that will cause pain in your back. This is a simple rule that you should follow everyday. It is important, at some point, to strengthen the muscles in your back to prevent further back pain. This should be done only after you feel significantly better.
